The Ultimate Medical
Mistake
Chapter 3
Forgotten
Truth
In
the light of the foregoing, let us now turn our attention to a vital truth – a
vital truth that has long been buried beneath what Ellen White would possibly
have referred to as “the rubbish of human error.” This is the truth in regard to
the nature of disease.
The significance of this truth is borne out by the fact that if we do not have a
right understanding of precisely what disease is, we have little hope of
preventing, little hope of curing, and little hope of isolating the true cause/s
of any disease.
As
to the nature of disease, it is encouraging to note that Ellen White,
Hippocrates and the Nature Cure (Naturopathy) movement are in general agreement.
Orthodox medicine, however, has embraced an entirely different understanding of
disease, and this fact is cause for grave concern - please excuse the pun.
Dr
Boris Chaitow, founding director of the world-renowned High Rustenburg Hydro,
suggests that when it comes to the nature of disease, there is indeed a
widespread and a most serious “blind spot in science.” He tells us that . . .
“It is incongruous [strange, bizarre] that in this modern age of sophistication,
of development, of sheer scientific genius, society is still not able to
control, understand, or remove the incidence of disease. In our present
fantastic century of scientific discoveries, man still fails to understand
the nature of disease, and the means to cure disease.
There is virtually a blind spot in science in relation to disease.” (Dr Boris
Chaitow, My Healing Secrets, pp.11-12)
While it is certainly most difficult to believe that orthodox medicine has
misinterpreted the very nature of disease, modern-day statistics certainly do
suggest that something in the medical world is seriously amiss.
To illustrate the point, let us consider the
country of Australia. Of those who die in this first-world country,
.
.
.
But how can this be? In a country that boasts of the very latest medical technology
and scientific know-how, and where “the best of medicine” is available to the
masses, how do we explain the fact that disease still claims so many lives?
Where is the healing?
If
this is the fruit of decades of medical research and so-called medical
“progress,” then what precisely is the hype all about? Or is the hype driven
more by public relations initiatives than it is by genuine advances in medical
science?
With these rather challenging thoughts in mind, let us now turn our attention to
the all-important question - What is disease?
